Toddler Program
Launching June 2027
Welcome to our Toddler Community
At Harpeth Montessori, we believe the earliest years of life are among the most important. Our Toddler Community is thoughtfully designed for children ages 18 months to 3 years and provides a nurturing environment where curiosity is celebrated, independence is encouraged, and every child is respected as a capable individual.
The Montessori Difference
Toddlers are naturally driven to explore, move, communicate, and participate in the world around them. Rather than directing every activity, Montessori guides carefully prepare an environment that allows children to learn through purposeful, hands-on experiences.
In our Toddler Community, children develop:
-
Independence and self-confidence
-
Language and communication skills
-
Concentration and focus
-
Fine and gross motor coordination
-
Grace and courtesy
-
Practical life skills
-
Social-emotional awareness
-
A love of learning
Building Independence From the Beginning
One of the most remarkable aspects of Montessori education is watching young children discover what they can do for themselves. From washing hands and preparing snacks to caring for their environment and choosing meaningful work, toddlers are empowered to participate actively in their daily lives. These small moments build confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of capability that will serve them throughout their educational journey.
A Warm and Nurturing Environment
We understand that beginning school is a significant milestone for both children and parents.
Our Toddler Community is intentionally designed to feel calm, welcoming, and secure. Our experienced guides support each child with patience, consistency, and respect while fostering strong relationships and a sense of belonging.
Children learn at their own pace while being gently guided toward greater independence and confidence.
Learning Through Nature, Exploration, and Play
Young children learn best through movement and hands-on experiences. Our toddlers enjoy daily outdoor exploration, gardening opportunities, nature-based activities, creative expression, music, practical life work, and experiences that engage all of their senses. Whether drawing on an outdoor chalk wall, watering plants, exploring the playground, or participating in classroom activities, children are encouraged to wonder, discover, and grow.
A Seamless Pathway to Primary
The Toddler Community is the beginning of a child's Montessori journey at Harpeth Montessori.
As children grow and develop, they transition naturally into our Primary Program, where they continue building upon the independence, confidence, and foundational skills established during the toddler years.
Many of our families choose Harpeth Montessori because they value the opportunity for their child to grow within one connected and supportive community from toddlerhood through elementary and beyond.
